Econet’s new Design Engineer Otto Kankaanpää chose a field that is relevant to him. Read Otto’s introduction below.
Who are you and where do you come from?
I am Otto, I graduated with a master’s degree in Environmental Engineering from LUT University in the summer of 2021. I chose the field because I was interested in environmental issues and technology. I specialized in renewable energy. I feel it has a significant role to play in solving the great questions of humanity.
How does working at Econet look like after the first few months?
Really nice, I am warmly welcomed. In the beginning, everything felt new and unfamiliar, of course, but under the guidance of experienced staff, the work is settling down.
What are your responsibilities?
I design processes for customers both for the public side and for the needs of various industries. For example, for wastewater treatment plants and water intakes.
What is the best thing about your job?
I get to make extensive use of a variety of basic engineering skills, and I find my work relevant. This is about the basic needs of humans and society.
What do you do on your spare time?
I enjoy bouldering, which means climbing outdoors and indoors at low altitudes without safety equipment. I also like to cook, and I have a home brewery at home. Clean water also plays a key role in beer production. I specialise in ales; my friends have given a good review on the product.
