Econet will start developing, producing, and selling water treatment equipment as part of its business

Econet Oy, a Finnish company specialising in water and wastewater plant construction and renovation project management services, will purchase Slamex water equipment from Dewaco Oy through a business acquisition.

With the acquisition, Econet will begin the development, production, and sale of the suction clarifiers, scraper clarifiers, bar screens, travelling bridge scrapers and sluice gates needed for waste water treatment under the Econet brand name.

Econet has long-standing experience as an international water engineering project management company, and the purpose of the acquisition is to strengthen business prospects. In the future, Econet will be able to supply a significant part of its equipment deliveries out of its own equipment selection – for example, to the Sokol project published in the summer of 2021.

“Having our own equipment selection strengthens our foothold in existing markets and enables new moves in the future. Going forward, we will be able to implement an entire treatment plant with the related equipment almost entirely using our own hardware, and there is also demand for individual equipment deliveries,” says Heikki Viitanen, Managing Director of Econet Oy.

According to Viitanen, the biggest benefit for customers is that in the future, processes and equipment will be designed under the same roof, which ensures optimal compatibility. In addition, spare parts for the equipment will be available directly from Econet.

“With the MBO deal last August, our aim has been to find the right equipment for our range, and now a good opportunity has opened up,” says Viitanen.

The business acquisition was completed on 10 February 2022. Econet and Dewaco were previously part of the same Econet Group.
