You could say that there is a little do-gooder in every person at Econet. Mikko Syrjälä, Project Manager of the water treatment equipment, is no exception – he does concrete work every day to purify the Earth’s waters.
Mikko supports sales and is responsible for product development of Econet’s water treatment equipment and cooperation with contract manufacturers. He – if anyone – knows the equipment in question. Mikko started out as a plater-welder twenty years ago, building the same equipment at Slamex Oy. Through various stages, the path led to welding coordinator and finally to foreman.
In February 2022, Econet acquired Slamex water equipment from Dewaco Oy through a business transaction, and at the same time Mikko joined Econet.
– We have always worked together, so this was not a big change. I have nice colleagues in Malmi, and a good working atmosphere.
Mikko has qualifications such as industrial technician and welding coordinator. As a project manager, Mikko is no longer seen with a welding helmet on, but the practical know-how he gained in the machine shop is a huge advantage.
– Thanks to my background, I can easily see if the equipment is done correctly. I act as an advisor if there are any problems in the manufacture.
According to Mikko, product development in equipment has led to more durable materials over the years. Digitalisation has swam into the water treatment industry, for example, so that equipment can be programmed via Bluetooth.
In his spare time, Mikko spends time with his family, goes skiing or rollerblading and takes care of two dogs. As expected, the former plater-welder has his own garage project. That is the renovation of the 1973 Solifer. Mikko faced the typical challenge: the dismantling was done in no time, but the assembly and painting are waiting for inspiration.
