Econet and Epse Join Forces: An Innovative Solution for Industrial Wastewater Treatment in Kazakhstan

Econet Oy and Epse Oy, a Finnish company specialising in treating harmful and hazardous wastewater from industrial and mining processes, have designed a new industrial wastewater reuse facility for a Kazakh industrial company.

This project represents a significant milestone in industrial water treatment solutions in Central Asia. It builds on a full-scale pilot test conducted successfully in 2023. The facility’s design was completed in 2024, and the investment is expected to commence in 2025.

“This project is a critical step for both us and Epse. It leverages innovative technology and directly addresses Kazakhstan’s growing water management challenges. In regions where raw water sources are scarce, the need for sustainable and efficient water treatment solutions is immense,” says Mika Kärkkäinen, Business Director at Econet.

Addressing Critical Water Management Challenges

At the heart of the solution lies technology that enables the use and reuse of industrial water tailored to each customer’s specific needs. The system has been designed particularly for regions with limited water availability. This approach supports both the continuity of industrial operations and regional sustainable development.

“We have demonstrated that it is possible to combine the principles of sustainable development with cutting-edge technology in water treatment. Our solution helps clients reduce the ecological footprint of their water consumption,” Kärkkäinen comments.
