Turku Region Water Ltd. is a wholesale water company providing drinking water for the nine Turku region municipalities. The company has been responsible for the planning and developing of water distribution in the Turku region for over 40 years.
Task
Clean water is stored in the underground water tank of Laakkari in Lieto, and the tank serves as a water distribution point for the area. In order to increase the capacity and improve the reliability of the network, the technology of the underground water tank and part of the main water pipeline to Lieto and from the Saramäki rock water tank were renewed.
Solution
As the main contractor, Econet was responsible for the piping and machinery works.
“The contract included piping installations, valve and instrument installations, and the installation of a new network pump,” says Econet Project Manager Ilkka Niskanen.
In addition, electrical work was included in the main contract as a side contract. On the other hand, the automation and earthworks were carried out as a separate procurement by the customer.
This is an in-use pumping station, and apart from prearranged water outages, Econet carried out the work while the pumps were running.
